Yay! Well, unfortunately I dont know much about good photography so I cant give you insightful critiques, but I'll use my acad lingo as much as possible.

well you do a better job than my mom and thats all the matters hahahaha
:iconjavertime:
Oh nice!
I was wondering, how hard is it to get into ACAD ?
:icontaste-the-red-hands:
its not super difficult. you have to worry about volume more than anything. just have a good artists statement, have a diverse portfolio. getting through first year is hard because they force you to work with new mediums and a lot of them simultaneously. getting into photography is a whole different story. this year they took 18/47 people who applied. but starting with next years applicants into the major, i believe they're taking 36, but its a lot more fine art based, my year is the last one for commercial design photography. but again all you gotta worry about is volume. if its what you love and you do good work, you don't have anything to worry about.
:iconjavertime:
oh really? I thought it would be more the quality of the work verses the volume.
I know my mom didn't get in when she applied there...but then again that was years ago XD

oh wow 18/47...!!
yea if they accept 36 it would be so much easier to get in that's for sure .

thank you (:

i mean the sheer volume of people who apply to the school. thousands of people apply.

it will be. but the program will be totally different. but i also think that them taking more students will encourage more students to apply.

and np. i'm always happy to help.
:iconjavertime:
Oh goodness, yes. That is quite a few people. XD

Different? Well I would hope it would be a better program than the one they had before.
:icontaste-the-red-hands:
i dont know if it will be better, but it will be different. i dont think they'll put such a large emphasis on technical skills, design, commercial work, advertising photography, product shots, extensive post production, working with clients and that sort of stuff. cuz i believe they're changing from a design degree to a fine art degree which are very different. theyre just going in a different direction. the students who just graduated were the last 100% design based photo kids. its been making a slow transition over to fine arts ever since the new head took over. but these are all things that ive heard and they took off the design course recommendation and such so who knows. i'm just gonna wait and see, cuz i dont think fine art photography has anything to offer me personally. but who knows. it could be a change for the better.
